I thought you guys might be interested in the use of a Phantom for conservation. This video documents the habitat loss over twelve months at a seemingly tiny, but very important piece of aquatic vegetation out in Lake Poygan Wisconsin. I've been working there seven years monitoring endangered birds that nest there, and the plants.
I tried to make a similar flight to the one I did the previous year and wasn't concerned with making a pretty video, its habitat destruction after all. The wind was threatening to speed up so I tried to make this years flight as quick as possible. I didn't want to get caught in high winds over open water. I was alone so landing would be difficult. I did get the UAV back in the boat without incident.
Let me know what you think of the idea of using it. I know that without a connection to the place it might not be that interesting to most people, but what do you think of the concept?
Thanks.
