Simulator fire up.

I have a Phantom 2 vision + and a waiting for batteries. I am trying to get the DJI simulator working BUT it appears I have to be able to turn on the drone. What are thoughts on connecting 11 or 12 volts to the drone terminals that the battery connects to. Would this allow me to fire up the simulator?
