I would like to take more video than still pictures so I replaced the 16GB card supplied with the aircraft to a 128GB (Samsung EVO Plus).

I was getting frustrated that I could only take 2 seconds of video at a time - and then I discovered “formatting”. That was OK for a while and I managed to get reasonable length video locally. However, when I tried videoing at a remote location the first 2 attempts reverted to the 2 second game but on the third try there didn’t seem to be a problem - until it got to about the 4 minute mark when I got a notification on the video “button” that the card was full (I assumed that was what the indication was but it was bright sunshine on the screen).

4 minutes of video should not have filled a 128GB card. What am I doing wrong and how can I sort it out???

Is the card full?
If so what's on it?
A few minutes of video won't fill the card.
Go back to your original card and confirm that's working properly (no need to even fly, you can do it on the desk with props off).
If the original card works properly, that's pointing toward the big card being the issue.

Card definitely empty (erased all video taken). The original card is OK - but will test again tomorrow.

Replacement card only did 2 second grabs on the first 2 tries. Went a bit longer on the third attempt until a “slow write speed” caption came up

Eventually I got a caption warning on the video button and it basically shut down after a couple of minutes.

Any suggestions? Have I formatted the replacement card correctly?

Download H2testw 1.4

Test the card(s) in a PC using the above utility, ideally on a usb3 port. As well as giving you read/write speeds it can also check the entire card.

Also, do you format the SD card in the aircraft using the app? Deleting them using a PC won't always get hidden/system files.

I looked up the Evo Plus and the published specs seem to be fast enough. Test it with the utility linked above, maybe it's not up to spec?

@gingerbloke - Thanks for the link, I'm going to test all my cards now.

Is this a u1 or u3 card? U need a u3. I have the evo plus 64gb u3 version. And it has been working flawlessly. So if you have a u1 version that is most likely your problem

I cant in my p4 pro i get cut out problems or recording stops ...same for my mavic air... put in a u3 good to go. My mav pro is fine with a u1 so was my old og p4

Well there's your problem right there... sounds to me like the new card is simply not fast enough

OK - All sorted now. Got a new card and BINGO! Everything works as advertised so obviously a faulty card. I guess that’s not something encountered every day.

Thanks everyone for your help.
