I like Meta4's point above. Hitting RTH and giving it 30 seconds or so at least gets the P3 pointed towards Home. Then just push forward until you get the video back.
You could also use the map screen for orientation. That may show what direction the P3 is pointed relative to home even if you've lost video. Pretty easy to navigate with that screen.
I miss Homelock too, but there are workarounds.
