Removing Data Link 2.4?

What effect does removing the DataLink 2.4 Module have on the Phantom 2's flying? Yet, leave the iOSD mini working.
It is my understanding that the DataLink is for transmitting flight data and flying WayPoints. I only want to fly FPV with FatShark Goggles and use my GoPro as the camera.
I just want to hear from someone else on this who has removed their DataLink module and still flown around.

The datalink is purely for flying waypoints, you don't need it at all for normal fpv. The IOSD will work fine without it and you will still get the flight data on your fpv screen.
