Red light on camera and constant noise

Hi All

I know this has been discussed before on this forum but I can't seem to get to the bottom of the issue. I'm hoping someone can help.

I recently had a firmware upgrade issue (turned off too early, not by me thankfully). I managed to resolve that by resetting the firmware. Since then (but might be coincidence) every so often, not all the time the camera light goes red and a low tone starts emitting from the craft.

I'm not able to give steps to replicate the issue, it just happens every now and then but hasn't happened during flight (again maybe this is just coincidence). It happened 2 times on Saturday. Once when just sitting on the floor with controller connected and another time when USB connected from camera to TV to review footage without controller connected.

It doesn't happen immediately on startup; its after a period (both long and short) of normal operation.

There hasn't been any crashes and its fully updated to the latest firmware.

Anyone got any thoughts? Its strange though, I would have thought is there was an error anywhere it would be constant and from startup.

Thanks

Stuart

What do the tones sound like? Are you sure they are coming from your craft and not the remote controller?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've taken a quick video of whats its doing (seems to AC interferes with the video for some reason)....

It happened every time I turned it on this morning to get the video, with and without controller. I swapped the battery and it stopped, so I put the original battery back in and it didn't seem to happen again.

Is it happening with one particular battery? If you don't leave your FW on your SD Card and you install a battery that hasn't updated yet, it will look for the new FW.

It doesn't seem to be no, actually it happened on both batteries on Saturday, and stopped happening this morning when the batteries were swapped around again. If it was a firmware update issue would it not be constantly doing it?

It's hard to tell due to the feedback from the VPS. Is it a long, solid tone?

A solid red light on the camera normally indicates some type of system error.

Above, you said you reset your firmware. What exactly did you do?

Thats what I thought, but then it not being all the time I wasn't sure.

I installed the previous version of the firmware by putting it onto the memory card, then using the button the side of the drone to force it to use it (can't remember what the button it called, sorry). It accepted the firmware downgrade and was fine. The noise was present occasionally after this. It has since been upgraded again to the latest firmware which it accepted without issue. Both AC and RC have been updated.

Ok, it does seem there might be an issue with the firmware. It was already on the card, but on digging into the logs, I see every time I get the noise its because of a failure:

Summary logs shows:

========== 2014.01.01 00:00:13 remo-con disconnect======
Packet: P3S_FW_V01.08.0080.bin
Result: Failed.
Reboot the aircraft and try to upgrade the firmware again.

Not sure what to do about that, any thoughts anyone? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like it's trying to read the card. Probably FW on the card or something related. That noise is normal when the SD card is being accessed.

Reading about module 15 sounds like something to do with the camera. All cables look ok, but I'll strip the gimbal off later and reconnect and see what happens unless anyone know different? :)

Thanks

Stuart

I removed and reconnected the gimbal and so far all seems fine. Much has been a loose connection. Thanks for your help all.
