Honestly I would do it again in a heartbeat. Their great people to work with. He gave his cell phone number. How many times have you got that kind of service?

Sure glad you got new camera. (maybe) He ripped me off and never replaced the camera I had the same problems with mine. He lies. Just telling it like it is.

I think I speak for a bunch of members of this forum that we've getting tired of your rants on RageCam, a vendor many of us are quiet happy with. Can we focus on more constructive and interesting aspects of the Phantom world?

Allan,

I fly a P2 non-Vision, with a GoPro Hero3+ with the RageCams 5.4mm lens. Very happy with the optics of the lens. Here are a couple recent videos I shot in Cabo with my setup.

Nothing fancy on the editing, just removed some of the junk footage, and put simple cross-fades between scenes. At some point I will distill it down to a tighter, best-of reel, with music.

Great HD video.... Nice job! I have a vision with the 5.4 and will share with you after I install my 2 axis gimbal. Thanks for sharing.

I have been considering the Ragecams lens for a while now but I can't seem to find a good sample image.
I would love to see just one RAW untouched photo shot at ISO 100 from a Ragecam FC200. I have emailed the ragecam people several times asking for this, but I don't think they understand what I want, they either send video, or edited jpg files.

Can you upload one to drop box or something for us? If it's as good as they hype I will defiantly buy one.

Hey Res currently my FC200 is on its way back to Ragecams for an adjustment. I don't ever take any RAW photos but I'm happy with the jpegs that I've taken. Are they the greatest, no but I completely blame the FC200. I've had soft edges from day 1. I'm no photographer so I'm pretty much happy with anything the FC200 gives me. I haven't noticed any major differences between the two lens minus the fish-eye which was the whole reason in choosing Ragecams.

I can't see the reason to spend that money for this. I would rather just use a fisheye edit . I'm not a pro so it's not worth the money.
IMHO it's a big ripoff.

This is a good point, if your not picky than it does not matter. I am looking for ways to get better images and this could be it. But then again I have a lot invested in photography, my cheapest lens for my DSLRs is more expensive than my entire Phantom 2 Vision set up.
In the world of photo, small improvements cost big bucks. For most it's just worth the money but for some, it is.

I've thought about it Mor. I just don't want to sell the P2V and start all over with the P2. Plus the P2 is gonna cost me quite a bit more once I load it up with FPV stuff.

This is why I decided not to send my money to him. In emails, it was clear that he didn't understand the simple questions I was asking.

I hope those who got their cameras ruined get their money back. :- (

My camera wasnt ruined but I it sent back to ragecams. They are replacing the lens after my many attempts to refocus didnt produce anything better than the files I posted above.

I like not having the fisheye but if you want sharper images Im not sure their lens provides it. When I get my camera back (hopefully tomorrow) I will have to play with the exposure and metering to see if I can produce better images. Overall for the money I spent I am not happy. I took the camera apart and saw what they did to mod the camera/lens mount and it doesnt look that hard. I believe these lenses are CCTV lenses, typical M12, but with such small glass I am not really convinced you can get very sharp images. They recommend using the CP filter but that can be a pain since depending on where the sun is you might have to constantly land and adjust the CP. If it produces better images Im willing to go through that pain but we'll see.

Thank you so much. This is just what I was looking for.

The lack of distortion is great, the chromatic aberrations are a tad bit better, but not much, and the over all image quality is about the same perhaps a bit better but not much.

You sure this isnt the exact same lens as what ragecams uses? Wouldn't be suprised if this is the same lens as well....

Just make sure you as for ir cut filter. They said they add it to the lens free of charge.
The want 139.00 shipped via fedex to your door in 3 days. Not bad. I am probably going to try this lens. The problem is the lens mount. I am in the process of modifying it but not sure how well its going to work out.

Anyways, think this lens from alibaba is tantalizing. Not trying to hurt ragecams business but they really do need to think about lowering their price. Seems they are just trying to take advantage of low competition....
