PVT581 - How to Update Firmware?

A friend of mine purchased a Phantom 2 Vision Plus from an auction. I was able to update the firmware on the drone. The controller is a PVT581. Trying to figure out how to check the firmware version. I don't find a usb port on the bottom edge of the controller like other modes of DJI controllers.

Do I need to open up the controller to find a usb connection? I have searched this on the internet and coming up with no results.

yes, open remote, there is a USB connector on PCB board inside. Use dji ph-2 RC Assistant software.
