Pro and wifi

The P3P does not use Wi-Fi. My iPad Mini 2 16GB runs DJI GO with no trouble.

You are right, the connection between RC and tablet in P3P is thru USB cable. You can use iPad mini 2 and above.

You do not need wifi to fly. If you want the map available where there is no wifi, don't forget to cache the map before you leave wifi availability

You should also put the Ipad in airplane mode to shut off the wifi to cut down on interference, just cache your maps first
