DJI announced the end of the line for the Phantom.
My P4P has been my workhorse of my construction business. Which Mavic would be a good substitution?
Not sure what they mean by 'end of Phantom'? They haven't had a firmware upgrade in a very long time. They did have the RID firmware only for the P4P v2 last year. I'm sticking with my P4Pv1 and Mavic Pro. They have all I need.

As someone who owns all the DJI Drones, the Phantom 4 Pro video quality is still one of the Best and honestly even when I watch the Video Footage on a 20 Ft Screen from an 8K projector you cannot tell the difference between the video quality of the mavic 3 Pro or the Phantom 4 Pro.

With that said, a good replacement for the Phantom 4 Pro would be the Air 3S , it offers the best design, handles the wind well, its a nice size foot print, and the price makes sense.

When the Drone is Geared up with a Wet Suit it can Fly in the Pouring Rain and if you add a Rescue Jacket you can even land on the water . All this makes owning the Air 3S a game changer for many.

I just purchased a V2 from another pilot, I agree with PhantomWetSuites, I will use this for video projects as my M3E & M3M and other enterprise drones I have are not suited for cinematic work. My M2P works great, but nothing flys as smooth as the Phantom. I'll pass on my V1's to my local P.D. for training.

I was worried about my aging P4P, even though it works very well. I added a Mavic 3 Pro, so that now I have a fleet of 2. My impression of the Mavic 3 Pro:
Plusses:
Longer Battery Life
Lighter, smaller to pack for travel
I think the camera is better
2 of the 3 lenses are nice. The tele - not that impressive
Easier to install filters, although the filters are pricey.
It shuts down immediately on landing. Easier to land in windy conditions, without mishaps. Low CG.
Black drone is pretty easy to see.

Minuses:
Set-up for take-off with all the unfolding, etc. takes longer
Riskier for hand catching, because the props are so close to the grab-point
Camera does not allow for video shooting and taking stills simultaneously. This is a feature I miss.

Not a cheap solution, of course. But the P4P was pricey when I bought it 9 years ago, too. With inflation, I think the Mavic was cheaper. Although there are a lot more choices now.

It's not the lens that's the issue .. it's the very small sensor.
But it's still capable of capturing surprisingly good images when used properly.

It takes next to no time to unfold and set up.

Neither does your Phantom or most cameras out there.
What you've been doing is saving a framegrab from the video while recording video.
You can do the same in your computer from any video file but they aren't going to be as good as a genuine still image.
