Phantom Controlled From Smart Phone?

Do you guys thing we will be able to control our phantoms from our smart phones just like the mavic can? Or is that not going to be possible.
 
No, Wi-Fi cannot control a lightbridge craft.

Wi-Fi is so cheap, it appears DJI has put two communication systems within the Mavic ocu-sync system, one of them is plain ole Wi-Fi that allows standard Wi-Fi control by cell phones for short distances, very short. Maybe we'll learn more details as time goes by.

If you are an app developer, you can definitely develop a tethered app for your phone that can work with your RC.

I have flown parrot drones using iPhones but I like to use sticks to maneuver. It's easy to tilt left right forward backward but I'm more comfortable with RC :)
