Most people are only using it to install firmware on the remote controller. You could also install apps on it or store files there if you run out of space on the mobile device.
No. You'd need to install some type of 3rd party app to record the screen. While there is a workaround to get some 3rd party apps installed, I haven't seen anyone try installing/running a screen recorded yet.
