Hi guys,

I’m really getting my head crazy with this problem, My P4 is losing signal to close, like 300~400 meters I lost the signal, and the aircraft RTH.
I dont know what to do, I tryed to recalibrate the IMU, compass and everything but nothing works.

i’m thinking this may be the landing gear with the problem? Because he is the antenna right? Or may be the Controller?
Can you guys give me a light for what to do os what to try!!

Thanks a lot guys

How long have you been flying this aircraft?

When did this distance anomaly start?

What was your range of control prior to this?

Have you made any firmware or software changes just prior to this range restriction?

Hi Doom, thanks for the answer.

I've been flying arround six months.

This error i've got was a month ago, the only thing that i change at the drone was the motor yaw, at a profissional. And he only put his hands on the gimbal, i dont think he could did something to cause this trouble.
I use to fly arround the neighborhood, fly arround 2km, working fine, but now If I stay at the same place as the drone starts, and I go UP like 300m, ou 400m I already lost the signal.
Tryed to put in the custom settings in the app, but didnt work.

I have a Phantom 4 Standard with the Remote Controller GL300C, all firmwares are the last one, I refreshed all to try to fix this, but no lucky.

I was thinking to buy another RC, i found one with the screen, Model GL300E ( I think it's from a PRO version )
This model works at the standard right? I think all is the same, or am i wrong?

This part is very confusing.

Why did you need to change the yaw motor?
What is "at a profissional" ?

Rod ..

If you have the Phantom 4 standard, it's controller is the GL300C
Controllers for the Mavic 4 pro are not compatible with yours Phantom.

The GL300E is for the Phantom 4 pro (original model) with the integrated screen.
The GL300F is for the Phantom 4 pro (original model) without the integrated screen.

You said you go UP to 400 meters. Didn't see what country you are in, but 400 meters is over 1300 feet. Did you mean 400 feet; which is the legal limit AGL here in the US. Even at that your signal should not have been lost. I had that problem once when I forgot to unfold the antennas.

What is the signal strength and how many satellite do you see on your screen.? The more the better 😀

Hey good point I didn't catch that my brain automatically thought in feet. Lmao !

Are you having a problem with the drone straight up above where you and the controller are or is the drone way out horizontally as well?

It's common to have a problem maintaining good signal when the drone is directly above you.
You get the best signal strength when the antennas of the controller and in the drone legs are parallel and facing each other.
If the drone is straight up, the antennas are in the worst possible orientation and it's normal to lose signal if you go high enough.

Correct me if I am wrong but I saw a familiar post a couple weeks ago.
Same question that I asked back then..
Meters ro Feet ??
Regulations are pretty strict on distances. LoS is the rule.

Have we solved this problem yet? I see there is talk of replacing the RC. I would start there. You can use another GL300 C or even an F. With the F you have to go into advanced settings and change it from a Pro to a Standard. I am not a fan of the built in screen model (E) although some like it.
It is interesting that it started right after the yaw motor was replaced. That would indicate that it had at least a hard landing. Unless it was just a motor failure. 9 times out of 10 it is damaged Hall sensors not the actual motor windings.
Just my thoughts. Perhaps someone older and wiser could jump in. Well maybe not older. Just wiser.
