I don't beleive you- I'm getting smooth performance with Xenon 12 core and dual AMD D700 GPU. I had time for a coffee and a walk around the block waiting for a render on a lower spec system.

Sure, even lower-specced '13 Mac Pro does well.

Regarding 12 Cores I wouldn't be so convinced - the performance gain for 8 vs 12 Core model in most usage cases isn't too big.
And - in Mac OS, the computing tasks (not only graphic-related) are delegated to GPU too, and it's hard to tell, the 12 cores are the main reason for smooth and good live, or the specced-out Fire Pro dual D700 (ok, I suppose, both of them)

just used it to convert the 4k down - vison is smooth so it doesn't look like a camera specific issue - rather my poor old PC which is not spec past 2.7K 30FPS!

Unless you have a 4k big-screen with a USB reader. Then it's awesome to watch, even if you don't edit!
