I understand the the Phantom 2 Vision Plus has 2 "Modes". "Phantom Mode" and "NAZA".

Questions:
1- If I enable NAZA mode but leave both the switches on the transmitter in the up position, is the mode "Phantom"?
2- It appears when I turn the Phantom on the "NAZA" records the direction the aircraft is pointed. To change the direction do I shut down, then restart the Phantom?
3- Is it as simple as switching from Phantom to NAZA by simply using the S2 switch on the transmitter?

I tried the NAZA mode today and did not see it work well. The rear lights indicated I was in that mode, but flying was terrible. I am interested in NAZA for "Course Lock". Conditions were not great with winds to 15mph. And in the middle of the flight I got a warning saying, "Less than 6 Satellites", so i quit.

I use the Litchi app. I noted no change in behavior. If I use the Vision app is says I'm in NAZA no matter where the transmitter switches are.

I can find all kinds of manuals, video's but no manual for my old bird.

Any information from more experienced flyers would be appreciated.

Also is it safe to say that "Course Lock" is similiar to "Headless Mode" in toy Drones?

the unit is in NAZA mode until you turn it back to Phantom mode using the software. NAZA mode just activates the 2 switches fully

Yes thats all you need to do.

3- Is it as simple as switching from Phantom to NAZA by simply using the S2 switch on the transmitter?
No as stated Phantom is a mode where the S swtiches dont work fully and to change between the 2 modes requires using the software assistant

Not sure what you mean by terrible, as for the rear lights, they are supposed to be flashing green in NAZA mode to show that your are in a normal flying mode, as for less satellites this can occur in areas where satellites are hard to locate, the older P2 suffered terribly especially if its the V1 with the metal compass, the V3 with the plastic compass had much better shielding for the GPS puck and locked more sats faster.
Course lock works fine, but in strong winds the quad may very well drift off course.

Again if you have switched to NAZA mode then the app will always say NAZA mode this is normal, if you switch back to Phantom mode it will show that

Really ? thats strange as a quick google gave me this page

Always happy to help any P2 pilot of any type as I specialise in repairs in the UK, also if you suffer "bad flying try doing an IMU calibration and compass calibration as this helps to keep the quad flying correctly.
