After months of aggravation, I think I found the cause of the no signal problem. I replaced the USB cable(RC toTablet) and flew a battery' worth without a single issue. I hope I'm not premature in thinking it's fixed. Either the cable is bad, or the sunshade was rubbing on the plug causing an intermittent disconnect. I should have checked it long ago, but at 73 yrs old, things don't happen real fast,,,especially brain work.
