Hello all. My name is Marcus and I purchased my first drone (Phantom 3 standard) during the Walmart Black Friday sale. I've taken it out for a few test flight and have had a few crashes. Lol, just glad I was only a couple of feet in the air and nothing was damaged each time. Looking forward to this new hobby. I'm ready to learn all I can about drones!

Welcome to Phantom Pilots! :)

Welcome to the fun zone of drones. Read all you can about all the different things involved and watch you tube videos of the issues and fixes others have encountered.

youtube it...fly like 100 feet in the air in the open field during the day and get use to flying it facing away/towards you since both are different when you hit the left/right stick.

Thank you for the replies. I've YouTubed a lot the past few days. I need to go up to Sam Houston State University and use one of their open fields. I have 6 acres but I have a crap load of trees.

Welcome to the forums, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new p3s, they are a blast :) happy flying

trees are ok. Just fly way above it like 200 feet. You can fly at sunset so you can see the red light. This red light shows where the drone is facing. Once you get used to flying it facing towards/backwards, then everything is pretty easy after that.

I would suggest that you head out to your nearest open area, start at about 100 ft having gone through all the calibration etc. fly straight out and back , then start doing figure of eights . Once you master your ability to coordinate turns, then your half way there!
I use LITCHI as my preferred program for taking video, etc so I would program in way-points and varying heights speeds etc once your happy with your proposed flight path let the P3 do its thing in an area that you can watch what happens etc.
Practice returns as well as finding out what happens if you lose signal ( I always return home at 200ft avoiding trees etc) Once you are confident in both your flying abilities and the software then you can push the envelope flying to a point of interest via way-points or filming sports or animals.
Always be aware of your surroundings as well as the battery level, also if you have had "an Accident" make sure that your props are not damaged and the gimbal is unharmed.
Good Flight.......

We are considered Houston's casino. Just FYI. Lake Charles is like one big no fly zone for drones. I don't understand where these airports the FAA say are at. Because I know there's not airports there.
