Need help getting plastic covers back on the landing gear

I can't figure out how to put the plastic cover back on the landing gear. Everything I try to do fails. Is there any suggestions to make this easier??

Throw them in the garbage and use small pieces of white duct tape, or metallic silver for that chromed look. Find it in your big box home improvement store with the residential heating and air equipment
