I have 2 perfectly Wonderfull Mavic Airs. I have healthy batteries and the first version of the goggles. I just picked up a garage sale Phantom one for next to nothing .. no propellors no landing struts. The transmitter comes on and there is a healthy flight pack battery with it. Can I make this bird fly? I don't need any compass camera or anything, I just want to fly it around in my back yard. The transmitter has double AA alkaline cells in it. When I saw that I thought this must a pretty basic thing and I could have some stress free air time with it. Like an RC plane. ??

You don't need GPS lock, but you DO need the compass. Make sure to do the compass dance before flying. There's a combination of controller buttons used to put it in Compass Calibration mode. Don't ask...you're going to have to figure that one out on your own. But at least now you know that that exists.
