Minimum shutter speed for stills

Mainly using the P4P for aerial photography and the sharpness of the pictures on the first flight was a bit of hit and miss. Did follow the correct focus procedure and assume that the low succes rate had to do with the minimum shutter speed. Took the pictures whilst hovering only.
Starting to think that i should have used a minimum shutter speed of 1/500.
Anybody prepared to share his experience with shutter speeds ????
 
It's very hard to comment without seeing what you are looking at.
Sometimes two seconds is perfect, sometimes 1/500th isn't enough.
It all depends of what you are shooting, the lighting, what you want the picture to look like, whether there is wind to deal with, whether the subject is moving and how much etc.
I shot this one in windy conditions at 1/64th sec and it's quite good
