Considering my Noob status to drones, AND in keeping with my wish to keep "My Precioius" in good condition, which flight mode will keep the "nose", i.e. obstacle avoidance always facing the direction of flight?

The nose always faces forward when flying forward and you're not using the intelligent flight modes.
