Lost signal before max 500m

Today I managed to get to 150m distance and a height of 300m before losing signal.
Is this normal for a standard, or is there something i'm missing. If it makes any difference I had 10 satellite bars and I was on a mountain so interference shouldn't be an issue.
However once I cancelled RTH at around 150m distance and 150m height I kept getting RC signal weak but this would only appear for around 3 seconds before returning to full signaland this happened for the rest of the flight.
Any help would be much appreciated,

You didn't mention whether you're sure you aimed your antenna correctly...

300 M high?. Why so high,need to angle the antennae correctly.

I had the antenna pointing directly at the drone if that helps. Is this the correct way to have it while flying. Thanks

I just had a quick read through the manual and saw that dji recommend keeping the antenna perpendicular to the legs. I have tried this before but I still seem to get the rc signal weak anywhere past the 200m Mark.
