The "privacy" argument always irks me. My wife has a zoom lens for her photography business that'll pick the nose hairs off a gnat at 1000 paces. That kinda tech could be hidden in your bushes all the time and you'd never know. But my flying weedwacker is what sets you off??

Right on!This kind of thing will be coming up more and more until all the hype and drama settles down.. best thing to do is be as educated as you can (there are at least three podcasts, a bunch of blogs, and several important drone related newsletters that will help in that). Get involved by being a positive influence in your local community. Don't be a spaz, be respectful when confronted, even educate other flyers when you see them doing something out of regulations.
