What are these used for and why would sombody want to use these?
I just made a quick antenna mount today.. Just went to the hardware store and picked up some items I thought would work.. Nuts, bolts, washers, some steel plates with pre made holes and some threaded rod..
Bent the threaded rod to the size of the phantom bracket.. Then put together all the peices of steel to make a heavy.. But not too heavy base.. And then bolted the threaded rod that I had measured and bent onto the steel base I had made..
It's def not an award winner but serves its purpose for now.. Think in total I spent around 13$ or so for all the meterials.
Now I can place this on the roof of my house, my car.. My porch railing Or where ever else. The best angle for the maxxrange is at 90 degrees.. Which is where the panel sits on the mount.. Basically all I gotta do is place the panel on the bracket, and set it up toward the direction of flight and I should be set. The base is plenty sturdy enough where it won't blow over or tip, and surprisingly the threaded rod I got (steel) is very stiff and doesn't flex either. They had brass rod as well but that woulda been much too soft.
It's not gonna be anything perminent, just something to hold the panel upright for now. And it's easy enough.. Just snap the panel off my controller and pop it onto the bracket I made.. Push and pull lol.. Only thing I wanna buy is 4 round sticky rubber pieces that I will use for each corner of the base (like feet).. This way it won't scratch and won't slide around when its on my vehicle.
Might look goofy but as I said it does the job for 13$. Took me 15 minutes to build it.
And Gramm I like what you did with the L-com and the magnets. This is exactly what I plan to do, and why I would buy the magnet based ones. I wanna use magnets vs adhesive because I will most likely be moving them from my house roof to my vehicle roof quite often.. The magnets are nice and secure yet can easily remove the antenna when need be. I'll prolly get a couple pieces of sheet steel and bolt/screw them down onto my house roof top then all I gotta do is pop the magnet/antennas onto the sheet steel and go fly.
Let us know how well your reception/signal is with the spread you have in the photo you just posted of it on your car. . I'm curious as to if its gonna be enough spead or not.
