IOS iPad/iPhone Screen Recording

I've been jealous of all the videos that have flight data/maps overlaid and couldn't figure out how to do it. It looks like recently Apple added the ability to record iPad/iPhone screens to quicktime. Maybe everyone else knows this, but I was not aware. I just tried it - works perfect!

But you have to have a Mac hooked up when you are flying--?? according to this-- how do you record the DJI app in action when you are flying and displaying all the telementry?

No, I'm using it to record the iPad playback under user center. The flight records.
