Anyone try the mode on their controller with orientation control? Is it true any way the drone is pointed it will fly in the direction you point it?

Is the only difference the cat that it has intelligent manouvering? I'm going to try it out

Basically, it allows you to move the camera independently from the flight direction. It's great if you are filming. Practice in a wide open area though. It can be a bit confusing at first.

I saw a great analogy on the DJI forum in regards to IOC - Course Lock.
"Think of it as a virtual cable". The virtual cable is the "direction" the phantom is "fixed" to. So it doesn't matter which way the nose (camera) is facing, it's still locked in that direction.

Best is to just practice flying in that mode, and all modes! Good prep for when you need it....

I'm going to try it... I'm pretty sure to enable it you have to enable multi flight mode on the software first .. then then flip the selector switch on the remote
