iMovie was updated today (10/13/15) with support for 4K editing.
Just tossed a couple clips in, was able to trim 5 minutes of video down to 30 seconds of action, color correct, and export all in about 6-8 minutes. Definitely not professional quality results but for the majority of my videos this will be more than sufficient. I'm impressed!
