How to get extended range for GoPro WiFi

If I mount my GPH3 on my FC40, what is stock range for GoPro app? What is everyone using to extend the range of their Hero3's WiFi?

What kind of range do you get compared to the standard camera? Do you have the long delay with the GoPro?

I have mounted my GoPro Hero3+ Silver and the range is no longer than 150m. But the video signal delay is too long!! I don't have the original FC40 camera so I am unable to compare the delays...
I have already ordered a 200mW 2.4G transmiter to connect to my GoPro and also a low cost gimbal...
