I hoping I can talk you new Plus owners to trying something.
To test if the Plus gimbal is smart enough to swap the roll and yaw while reversing their ... and the pitch correction, as it approaches and goes past 90º .... I am asking if you would put the P2V on a level table and point the camera straight down .. then tip the P2V slightly rearward as if flying backward, hovering in a stiff headwind, or as if a breeze/gust has hit it from the front.
You might try tipping left and right as well.
Does it still hold the camera steady when actually pointing the gimbal 'past' 90º, or does the gimbal start to baulk, becoming indecisive .... and if you tip farther .... freak out?
