Groundstation & Ipad Mini2

I have a P2 with ground station. Using iPad 2 with iOS 8 on the app, can connect to plan flights no problem. I can't use simulator mode though, when I do, I get a message similar to 'BTU incompatible, use PC GS'. All P2, GS & BTU firmware up to most recent version. Using PC software, simulator works.

I read on other forums, there was a problem with iOS 7 & simulator not working, is there similar problem with IOS8?
