Ground station on Ipad mini app and P v 2+

OK I want to try the ground station function on the DJI app on my ipad mini and Phantom Vision 2 Plus . I have worked the app and set up my waypoints. When I hit go the copter just tipped over and sat there trying to go. Am I supposed to lift off before I start the route?

Either that, or set an initial waypoint right above your launch point at some height closer to that of your next waypoint...right now the Phantom is trying to take the straightest line to that next one downrange as soon as it starts moving.
