Did a training sortie today in an open paddock, ie clear or trees or other obstacales other than cows;)

Two negatives happened.
1. The gyro for the camera did not spin up/function
2. Google Maps was not visible.

So I bring the P4P back and close down/recycle everything.
The gyro now works but Google Maps is still invisible.

Checked what I could in Litchi and couldn't see anything out of order in settings.
Im now wondering if the issue could have been in Go4?

Any thoughts pls.

did u cache maps? r u using an ipad with no internet to get maps?

Sorry should have been more explicit.

Using Android Sansung Tab S2
No cache.
Had 15 satellites beaming down. So had good signal strength.

I've always just fired up the system for Maps to show up.

This is the first time I've had this issue with Maps.
Config has not changed since last sortire.

The maps (which aren't Google Maps) aren't built-in to the app.
GPS only provides position data, not maps
You need internet data to download the maps., then the app can use GPS data to show where you are on the maps.

If you hotspot to your phone, you can get the maps when you are out.
Or you can cache maps before leaving somewhere with wifi and the maps will be available for use later.

And, no maps is no issue anyway.
The maps are of limited use for flying.

The 15 satellites pinpoint my position. There is no signal stength from my phone where I fly so I gather the maps and my location come from the satelittes. If I dont have sigstrength from wifi (and I never do), how do the maps appear then?

It's all as stated in post #5. For more information about it, have a look at the search results below from Youtube. Stated in simple terms, you open the DJI/Litchi app, select the map display and then pan/zoom around the area you are planning to fly to cache the maps.

Without regularly refreshing via an internet connection, I believe cached maps will be good for use for about a month and then they disappear and you'll need to re-cache them.

GPS cannot deliver maps.
It only provides latitude and longitude data .. just some numbers like this 51.47936965 -0.27736134.
The app will display the GPS data on maps that it downloads from the internet.

see post 4 above then also post 5 from 4 hours later which says the same thing
