Hi. I inherited a Phantom 4 from a family member that hadn't used it for a very long time. I replaced the failed batteries and thought I was going to be able to fly, but the GL300C controller failed to charge when I was ready to. Unfortunately, I live in a no-fly zone, so my trip to a flyable area was wasted. I have since removed, reflowed the mainboard three times, and and after reassembling the GL300C, I have been able to charge it and connect to the Phantom 4. But. not when I was in a flyable area. Recently I was, and again, the GL300C wouldn't charge. I recently discovered that a GL300C mainboard is available from abroad, so I ordered one. My question: Will I have to flash the bios with any special equipment if the mainboard is viable? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jas

Welcome to the forum!
I looked at your other post.

Don't mess with the firmware, that is the last thing to try on these Phantoms.

" reflowed the mainboard three times "
What does this mean?

The board in the controller, that has a battery?

Hi Rod. Thanks for the welcome and the response. I followed a number of instructive YouTube videos that show how to fix the charging issue on the CL300C controller by removing the mainboard, and applying heat to a chip that most think causes the charging issue by "reflowing" the solder enough on the board to hopefully overcome any connection issues. It worked for me. I was able to fully charge the controller battery, but since I wasn't flying the Phantom 4, the controller sat and ultimately wouldn't charge again. The mainboard I ordered appears identical to the one I reflowed, and I assume it will have firmware installed. I'm not sure it is and OEM board. I'll soon find out.

So far you have only been talking about the RC mainboard?

Hopefully somebody will help us out.

@Starz
Your the first one I can think of 👍👌

Since remote open did you check voltage of batt with multimeter, if good volts sound like board
I did read couple of previous same issues and saved a screenshot of where to heat and refllow in
Since you got a board coming I wait to see if works and I curious

Thanks IANZONE. Yes, that is where I have applied heat to the board. It initially worked but failed again later. I also tested the battery. I only recently have seen mainboards availability for the GL300C. The Mainboard was "out of stock" from the only domestic (US) vendor I could find. I saw multiple vendors on AliExpress, all showing the same "Honeye UAV" GL300C mb, but ranging in price from ~ $50 (with shipping) - $100. I have one arriving shortly, I will install and test it and post my results.

If the replacement board doesn't fix it, I may be in the market for a working GL300C. Thanks for the suggestions 1buddyc and CaptKO, RodPad and IANZONE! I'll update with results when I have any.

Replacement board works. I've been able to connect the remote to the Phantom 4. It was a cheap fix via aliexpress ($53 with shipping). Relatively straight forward: disassemble the GL300C, replace the board and reassemble, update the firmwares and connect. I still have never flown this Phantom 4 Standard. I will have to get outside my no-fly residence to do so.
