I apologise to all who know this, I didn't and I've been flapping about for a week or more.
To calibrate the Gimbal, do a full calibration (all sticks and switches/levers with the RC first (quad on), then the same with the P2 assistant, along with the X1 calibration.
Mine is back working again. wohoo!
