In most of the pictures I see with someone holding their controller with an iPad, I see a cord dangling. My Phantom 3 SE controller doesnt have a USB port anywhere on it. Was this an older version Im seeing? I know mine connects wirelessly to the controller, is the cord better, or even an option somehow for mine?

The Phantom SE is basically the same as a standard which uses wi-fi only. The newer Phantoms use Lightbridge for communications and the cord you see is a USB connection to the controller. These are the newer versions. And there is no option to upgrade the standard to that.
