First time connecting to app- not getting prompts

I was going to install my firmware upgrades for the first time today. I watched the tutorial videos for phantom 4 pro. Video says first connect with app and cell phone you should name the drone and select a stick mode (mode2).
The green light is on, for the remote and I have downloaded DJI go 4. The app says that I need a firmware update. When I tap that red box, nothing happens. I never received the prompts to name the drone or select the stick mode.

something is not right. All batteries fully charged. Am I missing something?

Forgot to mention my cell phone is a Galaxy note 8

I got the drone to update software using assistant 2.

Now the controller has a solid red light. when II plug in to assistant 2 it says unknown device?
