Hello. My research has told me that ver 1.3.509 is the version to get. I have a Phantom 4 Pro+.
I would like to get it to a firmware version that will allow it to operate in the same locations my Phantom 4 Adv+ will. The Adv+ will let me spin the motors to run the batteries down where I live but the Pro+ will not.
Is that the best firmware indeed? Will I have issues since it has the built-in screen, and where can I go to get further help on the actual firmware install procedure. Thank you very much.

Thank you and good question. My procedure of use has been charge the batteries the day or night before using, then fly, when returning home if the batteries are still highly charged I then will run the batteries down to about 50% if planning to fly soon, or to about 35% if going to store. I read the batteries could be set to auto discharge after some days but then I would need to remember to check them again. I'm really busy so I think the safest procedure is run them down, pack it back up and get back to work.
Short of flying, the fastest way to run them down seems to be by spinning the props while I work on something else. Seems like a pretty good plan?
The P4Pro+ won't let me spin the props to run it down so it would be easier to have it so it could like the P4Adv+ could. It's replacing the Adv+ so life would be easier if it worked the same.
I have now had 2 batteries die due to lack of use, so I want to charge and discharge the others more frequently but I don't have time to go fly often

These batteries are way different then when I grew up with.

Hope the link works, this guy was the battery guy at the time!
We bumped heads I few times.
Overall I learned a lot. 👍 👌

"First question. Any particular reason for running the motors to deplete the batteries"

YES, why would you that?

The battery, every charge effects is total health?
You can use the app to look up how many times its been charged etc.

If a missing something, let me know.

Rod ..

Don't think Firmware will help, it's the 'fly safe' app that's stopping the motors and that can't be changed once updated. I don't update for that reason, the new one will block my house too..for an unused heloport in my neighbors yard.

The self discharge feature works fine. I would not use the spinning motor method just because it’s adding time on the motors that isn’t needed. Your procedure may best suit your needs.

In the DJI app there is a setting for discharge time, i usually set it to 5 days, the batteries will self discharge to a safe storage level during those 5 days.

I can't speak for the plus, but firmware v1.3.509 is the best version for the P4P. I have several P4P's that I used for mapping for years with great success on that FW. This pairs nicely with Go4 v4.0.8. Sticking with these versions and compatible iOS, I had a 100% success rate flying missions. I never had to deal with erroneous NoFly Zones. The same can NOT be said for newer FW versions.

FWIW, you don't necessarily have to spin the props to drain the battery. Naturally, it takes longer, but it can still be done by simply leaving the drone powered up.

Also, your storage capacity of 35% is too low. 55% (50% - 60%) is ideal. I have a gazillion drone batteries and not one has failed using that capacity. If they are stored for a very long time, I will occasionally audit them to make sure they are still at storage capacity. About half the time I have to juice them up a bit to get them back to storage capacity.

Good luck.
