Help needed!

I was flying my drone around Skaros Rock in Santorini and lost it. I saw where it went but could not find a safe climbing path to get to it. If someone else has a drone.. tie a hook and string to the bottom of it and you can probably hook the leg of my DJI Phantom 3.

Here are some pictures of the location.

Hi and welcome!

Sorry to hear about (and see) your loss - but I'm not totally sure if you're appealing for help or giving instructions to others about how to get a free drone! :)

But seriously, I think you'd have a better chance of recovering it if you could get someone with climbing ability and equipment to help you. The terrain, although difficult for you, doesn't look, to me, to be that difficult for an experienced climber.

So anybody near Santorini, Greece here, with skills in hooking drones.... or climbing?

@Knpham228 You might get a better result posting on a Greece specialist climbing website, IMHO, either in Greek or in English https://www.google.com/search?ei=Q6XIXIm0H6ShmwXK0ZW4AQ&q=greece+climbing+forum&oq=greece+climbing+forum&gs_l=psy-ab.3...39721.49021..49346...0.0..1.465.3285.0j19j1j0j1......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i131j0i67j0j0i10j0i13j0i13i10j0i30j0i10i30j0i8i30.PW98N1QPtEI

Good luck!

Looks to me like it probably nicked that rock outcrop just above it as it descended and then flipped and landed on it's back. That outcrop (which appears to be overhanging it a bit) may cause some difficulties in dropping a line to it. It's hard to determine the angle from the photo -- but I'm impressed that you actually have a photo of it. Best of luck getting it back, but please don't die trying to do so.

No
I doubt a drone could pickup and successfully carry the weight of another drone....
They can very easy,,you can get these from Amazon ,,,have bit practice first,,,,,to be honest I like the look of this ,,

Thanks! Hopefully he responds.
If he doesn't, then you need to get more proactive and could do a bit of searching on Google with appropriate keywords, just as I have done. That could find you some more options/contacts/solutions. It might be better not to delay for too long though, as being out in the weather isn't so good for a drone. Your battery is probably already ruined, although you might still be lucky....

Yep, Yep, They are not built to carry there weight x2, maybe if the second didn't have the battery?

My concept was to hook on to it with fishing line with another Phantom, bring the Phantom back and land it. Then pull it to you. If the hook grabbed something you didn't want, leave the hook, cut the line, etc.

Try another hook.....

Catch but no release.

I could stop and start the motors, view the camera etc. The Phantom Magnet (Tree), let it go before I could retrieve it. It was in five pieces.

Dang, I think I'm ready to run the mission I made yesterday.:)

@Knpham228 you’re fortunate to see with your own eyes where it lies the fallen drone, but you have to sweat a little to bring it back home. Call the Santorini climbing crew that @Steve7777 already suggested you. Good luck !!
