Curious about a blue sera on screen

A blue area appeared on my screen which moved around, can anyone tell me what it might be?

The blue spot is where your phone or tablet thinks it is.
If the device is using GPS for location, it should be quite accurate.
But if it's using wifi or cell tower triangulation, it will only be approximate.

Oops ... now that I'm looking on a proper computer I can see it properly.
The blue area of interest looked like ocean on the other screen!

Thanks I was surprised since it never appeared before, and were in the mountains with no airport in the area. I thought I either hit a button on my iPad or the Sheriffs Dept set up a gps marker so deputies could find a location on a bust. They have been active in the area. Thanks again.

I don't think that's a thing.
With GPS there's no need for any "marker" since GPS devices get their location info from the satellites.
