Course Lock????

I have the Phantom 3. OK.... I switch to course lock, and fly straight away from myself. When I pull the stick back it "seems" the drone doesn't come straight back to me. Should it?? If I turn 90 degrees to the right the drone seems fly straight back and passes in front of me, continuing in a straight line past me.
Since I'm pretty good at "copters", I can handle the weirdness, but the drone acts like the controls are 90 degrees to the right for each input???

At the moment you activate Course Lock, the direction the P3 is pointing is locked in.

Let's say it's pointing north when you do that. Push the right stick forward and it goes north. Pull the stick back and it goes south.

Now rotate it 90 deg. CCW so it points west. Again pushing the right stick forward makes it move north, not west. It's locked on the course, independent of rotation.

No matter what the rotation is, the direction it flies is based on where it was pointing when started.
