Controller No LED

Hi.
Just received my phantom 2 that i won. But when i try turning controller on it isnt lighting up? Would this be due to poor batteries or does it sound more serious? Cheers

if its got the built in lipo plug it in and charge it for a few hours
if its the early type try 4 new good quality batteries
