Connects great to my iPhone 7, but won't connect to my iPad

Isn't bigger always better? I have an older (4-5 years) iPad that pretty much collects dust, unless I need to look something up and the laptop is downstairs. I thought, I know it would be heavy, and I would have to devise a special mount, but wouldn't it be great to use that for the P3P instead of the iPhone 7. I have tried everything I can think of and it refuses to connect with the P3P. Loaded the most current app, repeatedly. Signed out of DJI Go on iPhone. Signed in on the iPad and it always takes me to the connect screen where you select your equipment. RC and AC are up running and linked, but no matter what I have tried, I always end up on the connect screen. The iPad is running IOS 9.xx and its a 32GBs with about 18GB available. I have also tried two different cables. No joy :( Could it be that the iPad is just to old to support the DJI Go app?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
