Compass disconnect...how do I fix?

My son was flying with all systems normal, the drone went "awol" and hit a tree and fell to the ground but with no apparently serious damage. However when we try to connect it the app syas the compass needs to be reconnected or calibrated, yet when we try to do that it does not work... any ideas how to fix this problem? The drone was perfect before this

check the compass on the leg make sure it did not come loose.
if that is ok try at the MB to see if connection is good.
