Hopefully my Phantom should arrive Tuesday :)
Apart from following the basic instructions and doing the compass dance should I also do an advance calibration as well from out of the box? Is it likely to be firmware 3.16 installed and should I leave it at that or go straight for version 4? Any other tips for a complete noob-!

cheers

I had a warranty issue out-of-the-box. I couldn't get rid of the red light & the Naza software couldn't detect a battery even with a fully charged battery. If I had of upgraded the firmware before attempting flight then I would not have known if it was something I did wrong, or a factory quality control issue. My dealer eventually figured it out & replaced a part. So definitely first fly it first on whatever version it comes with.

Don't do what a lot of people seem to, and update right out the box.

When they run into problems they are in a position where they don't know if the update was a failure or the Phantom was defective straight off.

I recommend following Mikrob's advice and flying it first. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
