P3 Firmware cannot update firmware on p3a (new)

Out of the box new. Controller updated. Latest version. Camera connected successfully. Tried to update aircraft firmware, now on hour three of failed attempts. Aaargh. Download zip file onto mac. 25mb. Unzip to 62.7 mb single bin file. transfer to micro sd card and load into aircraft.
ReStart aircraft.
Green camera light stays on. no flashing light. No four beeps.

Found a video on how to force install.

Scary enough I don't want to try it. Yet. Any advice greatly appreciated. Got my bird for christmas, but no chance this turkey is going to fly at this point and I am out of ideas.

How do I know if my drone / RC is updated? I assume it's not because I don't have the option in the app to shut off Geo System

After connecting RC to AC, start DJI Go app and check versions on about tab.

Hi there, quick question... when I go to the app and the "about" section, mine shows:
Version 3.1.1
Aircraft Version Unknown
Flight Controller Serial Number (my number is here)

I don't see an option to update the firmware and why would the Aircraft line say Version Unknown?

I tried to install latest firmware a couple of weeks before Christmas when I got my P3A.
No joy at first so tried installing earlier versions first and increasing the number step by step. This worked okay.
