Brand new P4 for XMAS

I charged the batteries & controller out of the box, downloaded DJI go app, have phone connected to the controller, try to turn on controller & drone, both light up and then turn off, app shows disconnected in the left top corner. What am I missing here for them to communicate to each other and complete setup?

Have you made sure you have pressed once and then pressed and held the power button to turn both on? If you just press once it shows you the battery level.

Cookie welcome - read the manual is best, friendliest and most helpful advice we can offer new pilots. Then watch the tutorial videos on DJI/YouTube before you ever put props on the craft. Then practice Stopping and shutting down the P4 before you put props on, - safety first. Good luck you will love the flying experience.
