Hello all,

I am by no means new to RC, but I am new to the “drone” world. I need a little guidance, and hopefully I won’t have to throw it away. I have exhausted my knowledge, and can not find much online hep with this specific issue.

My father gave me a DJI-Phantom 1 (model P330D) for Christmas, after he upgraded to a Typhoon 4K. The DJI had been in storage for a few months, but had no issues whenever he put it up.

The unit quickly goes in to the “rapid flashing yellow” mode after powering on, indicating that no transmitter has been found. (This is an early model, with the bind button on the bottom of the receiver board in the battery well).

The major issue is that there appears to be no functionality of the bind button/LED whatsoever. No Red light, and no yellow light indicating that the unit is ready to bind. I have tried long holds, short holds (on the bind button), and it will not come alive.

I have removed the shell and went through it with a fine tooth comb, but can find no physical damage or loose hardware.

My computer does register that it is plugged in however, with the corresponding default “chime” that you hear with Windows PC. When plugged in to the computer, the flashing yellow ceases, and changes to solid green.

I cannot push any firmware updates, or utilize assistant software, and I suspect that it is related.

The transmitter is an early one, requiring you to remove the back shell to access the usb docking port. Also, there is no damage observed in the transmitter.

There is a single button located on the main board inside the transmitter.

The computer does acknowledge when the transmitter is plugged in and turned on, but beyond that, nothing.

The NM software does not acknowledge that the transmitter is plugged in, and if I understand correctly this is because the drone itself, which acts as a “middle man” has an issue.

I apologize if this is a redundant problem and a FAQ, but everything I can find relates to simple rebidding whenever the dreaded “flashing yellow” rears it’s head. However, I cannot bind if the bind board/led does not seem to show any response to inputs.

Thank you so much for your expertise and thoughts,

******UPDATE:****** I seem to have had some form of success, at least from where I was. The assistant software does now recognize the aircraft, with a solid green light.

The transmitter now will not stay connected to the PC. “Unrecognizable USB device.” The device manager shows that it works properly. I imported the ceritificate due to the driver signing issue. I changed the time of my PC to 2014, then 2013 whenever the driver was last signed. Nothing changed. I am running Windows 10. Yesterday, I did not have this issue, but then again, yesterday the driver never successfully installed as it did today.

While running the assistant, I tried to perform the firmware update whenever prompted. It failed, of course, because the MC will not stay connected. The update downloads but fails during installation with the MC constantly bouncing in and out.

Can you post some pictures of the bottom of the quad and back of the remote controller?

Be glad to, here you go. Thank you.

The area of the gray sticker that I wanted to see is somehow scraped off. I was trying to see the version number. All of my FC40's say P330D and are 5.8 GHZ. All of the P1's that I have seen all say P330. I'm leaning towards thinking you have the wrong radio for your quad, but could you try once again with the binding process?
