I do this sequence:
1) start assistant
2) plug USB cable from phantom to PC
3) power on phantom ( Range extender, Tx, phantom ) I have P2V
4) do your thing ( whatever you need to do in assistant )
5) power off phantom, do not unhook yet!
6) power on phantom ( DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING ) when all is good
7) power off phantom
8) unhook cable ( both ends )
9) turn off PC
10) FRESH compass calibration
11) go fly
( it is also good to perform Tx calibration while in assistant
If you do any changes to phantom ) your choice on this part!
Some DO, some DONT!

( it is said to NEVER hook or unhook any cables
While phantom is ON! )
