Anyone still flying a P2 vision? Just purchased a great deal.

New to the site not the forums.

Ive been flying DJI since 2012 with an original P2. I recently purchased 2 3rd party batteries and im back flying again.

My issue is,my job has moved me to south florida from Ga. And I went to perform a compass cali and it wont complete it no matter where I go.
I looked online and researched on this forum for causes and found out its possible for the compass module may have failed.
I looked on marketplace for a donor unit and found a P2 vision unit for $50 in the box..
I purchased this unit and WoW this unit is brand new and looks to have zero flight time. So I threw in a brand new 3rd party battery and hit the power button and it immediatly powered up and smoked the Esc board,
Dont know why,motors turn freely,I disconnected the control plug and at least it powers up like normal. I ordered a new motor and new escs for all 4.Anything to be aware of? Anyone still flying 1 gen units?

I looked at your first post.

Well that sucks, have you heard of this, somebody adds Prop Guards, they all need longer screws?
Remove the prop guards, well oops the longer screws go into the motors.

Hey Rod ,Yup Ive heard of the dreaded screws into the motors . This box with the P2V parts still has the guards wrapped in plastic and the white cord stilll on the spool.
I wished I could find more details on the P2V and flying it again.
I am going to download the Litchi software but didnt want to get it and not be able to utilize it .
Do you know much about reviving a P2 and its software?
can Litche still work?

Sorry, I have the remote and the Wifi extender unit. I didn't have it very long, its still missing, and this was before I played with Litchi.

Yes I am almost to the point of just going ahead and getting another updated Drone.
My Zenmuse gimbal quit working about a year after I purchased it all so Zenmuse sent me another and it didnt last 4 months so now I have two in the box that dont work. so a strapped GoPro to the gimbal plate with the isolators still produce shakes caused by flight.
I was hoping to get the P2V up and running but the Egg camera on there is of such poor quality I am now looking for ways to mount the gopro to its gimball.

Yep, still a few of us flying P2 Visions. Great find! Just make sure to check batteries and ESCs before flying. Parts can be tricky these days.

Hey Thanks Rod I just changed out 2 ESCs And purchased 2 new 6200 mah batteries so im ready to go I also updated the firmware to 3.14
I cannot seem to find the info on getting an old phone and downloading the older DJI software..any help?

The DJI Phantom 2 (specifically the Vision/Vision+ models) works with
most iOS and Android smartphones capable of running the DJI Vision App, connecting via Wi-Fi. Older phones like the iPhone 5/6, Samsung Galaxy S5/S6/S7, and similar devices from that era work best.

Sorry for the late reply, i have a lot of experience with the old p2 units, you cant use litchi as it wont work anymore since dji turned off the activation servers, you need the DJI Vision app, its available as a stand alone install APK from my collection below along with all the software you need, my website is below as well i have a lot of videos on the p2 in the p2 playlist
