Hi guys

I've just purchased my 1st drone, phantom 4 pro from Heliguy in the UK.

I've been reading through the topics and it seems a fair few people are having issues with the firmware. All I've done so far is charged it up and registered the drone. The app is now telling me to update the firmware, should I do this?

Also Heliguy is trying to sell me crash cover at £249/year. Is it worth the money or is it better just to pay as you go for repairs?

Thanks in advance for your replies and time.

They do not cover crash damage unless it is determined, by them, to be the fault of the drone. Damage resulting from pilot error is not covered. That's why you should purchase DJI Refresh. If the drone is brand new, Refresh should be available to you, for a price.

I have asked DJI to be sure.

Don't know if you have the option in the UK but State Farm Insurance insured mine for $41 a year.

Guys many thanks for all your input. As a new pilot I’ve played safe and taken out a DJI refresh plan. I’ve also let the firmware update well alone for now.
